Honest reviews
Overdrive aims to describe what was tested, how it was used, what evidence supports a claim and where uncertainty remains. A review should include meaningful weaknesses and trade-offs, not just a list of features. Prices, specifications and ownership claims are checked against identifiable sources before publication and labelled with a verification date when they can change.
Editorial independence
Manufacturers, distributors, dealers, agencies and other partners do not choose Overdrive's verdict or rating. A source may be asked to check a narrow technical fact, but it may not rewrite an opinion, suppress a fair criticism or approve a review before publication. Commercial activity must not determine editorial scores.
Sponsored content and disclosure
Paid partnerships, supplied production support and other material commercial relationships must be clearly disclosed where the audience can see them. Sponsored content must be labelled as such and distinguished from independent editorial coverage. Payment does not buy a positive verdict.
Loaned vehicles and machines
When a vehicle or machine is borrowed for review, Overdrive should identify the provider and disclose relevant special terms, hosted travel or unusual access. A loan creates access, not an obligation to recommend. The provider may not control the resulting opinion.
Safety
Reviews should respect Kenyan law, public-road users, operators and the limits of the machine. Any closed-course, professional or exceptional testing should be identified. Published footage is not an invitation to imitate risky driving, riding, flying or equipment operation; readers should use trained professionals and appropriate protective equipment.
Corrections
Factual errors should be corrected promptly after they are confirmed. A useful correction request identifies the page, the disputed statement and supporting evidence. When a change materially affects the meaning of a published piece, Overdrive should note the correction on that page where practical. Differences of opinion are reviewed, but are not automatically factual errors.
Affiliate disclosures
If a page contains an affiliate link, that relationship must be labelled close to the link or content. Overdrive may receive a commission from a qualifying action, but the possibility of commission must not determine inclusion, criticism, ratings or the final verdict.
Ownership of opinions
Published conclusions belong to Overdrive and the identified author or presenter. They do not represent a lender, sponsor, manufacturer, platform or event organiser. Personal experience must be distinguished from verifiable fact, and Overdrive remains responsible for what it publishes.
The Kenyan Verdict
The Kenyan Verdict is Overdrive Review's standard Kenya-focused assessment. It scores value for money, reliability, running costs, parts and service availability, practicality, performance, comfort and Kenyan-road suitability using documented evidence and a consistent weighting method.
Scores are not based on YouTube views, likes, comments, sponsorship or a presenter's personal rating. Automated tools may help transcribe, research, compare and structure a review, but every published claim must remain traceable to the review video or an identifiable external source. When evidence conflicts or is too weak, the claim is omitted or clearly qualified.
The overall Overdrive Review Score weights value for money, reliability, running costs and practicality at 15% each. Parts and service, performance, comfort and Kenyan-road suitability are weighted at 10% each. All eight dimensions must be present before an overall score is published.
Contact process
For a correction, disclosure question or editorial concern, use the Overdrive contact page and identify the message as editorial. Include the relevant page link and enough detail to investigate the issue. Commercial enquiries should be identified separately so they do not get confused with editorial feedback.
If the website form is unavailable, contact Overdrive through an official channel: Instagram, TikTok or YouTube.
